Le vent s’est levé cette nuit à 4 h du matin, et on
apprécie, cela raffraichit un peu, il fait chaud. Le matin un joli force 3 nous
accompagne quand nous partons à 9 h, c’est idyllique … mais cela ne va pas
durer. Trois voiliers charters (loués) sortent en même temps que nous mais vont
ancrer à une ile en face, après 20 mn de navigation. Nous continuons, à l’abri
de l’ile d’Aigina, une grande ile, mais quand nous ne sommes plus à l’abri, le
fun commence. Le vent force et au lieu de venir du nord comme prévu est presque
de l’est, donc on l’a presque dans le nez. Nous avons quand même la
grand-voile, bien serrée, pour essayer de stabiliser un peu. Les vagues ne sont
pas très grandes mais viennent de deux côtés à la fois, de devant et du côté
gauche. Maja cabriole comme une chêvre enragée (!) et cela devient assez
inconfortable. Et le vent augmente encore, 13, 14 et même 15 m/s (30 nœuds),
force 7. Jeannette n’est pas ravie, ravie. Et cela dure, dure, on n’avance pas
vite contre vent, vagues et même courant. On espérait être à l’abri de la terre
quand on passe au sud de la péninsule Attique, où est située Athènes, mais non, au
contraire, il y encore plus de claques. Ensuite, on espère que le vent reste de
l’est quand on remonte nous vers le nord, le long du côté est de cette péninsule. Mais non,
le vent suit la côte et vient du nord, en plein contre mais les vagues sont
assez petites dans ce chenal, protégé par une longue ile. On pensait arriver vers 16 h mais on arrive, à
18 h, dans la marina appelée marina olympique, près de Lavrio. Deux marineros
viennent nous aider à accoster, et par ce vent ce n’est pas évident. Enfin, on
est le long d’un ponton, bien contents d’être arrivés. Rude journée pour la reine.

The wind picked up tonight at 4 am, and we appreciate it,
this refreshes a little, it's hot. In the morning a nice force 3 accompanies us
when we leave at 9 am, it is idyllic ... but it will not last. Three charter
sailboats (rented) come out at the same time than us but anchor at island in front after 20 minutes of
navigation. We continue, sheltered by Aigina
island, a large island, but when we are no longerin the shelter of the island,
the fun begins. The wind strength and instead of coming from the north as
predicted is almost from the east, so we
have it almost in the nose. We keep the mainsail, tight, to try to stabilize a
bit. The waves are not very big but come from two sides at once, from the front
and from the left. Maja caper like a rabid goat (!), it becomes quite
uncomfortable. And the wind increases further, 13, 14 and even 15 m/s (30
knots), force 7. Jeannette is not happy,
happy. And this lasts, lasts, we are not progressing fast against wind, waves
and even current. We hoped to be in the shelter of land when passing south of
the peninsula Attica, where Athens is located, but no, on the contrary, there are
still more guts there. Then we hope the wind will stay from the east when we go north
along the east side of the peninsula. But no, the wind follows the coast and is
from the north, right in our nose and very strong, but the waves are not that
big in this channel, protected by a long island. We thought we would arrive at 4 pm but we arrive at 6 pm
in the marina, called Olympic marina, near Lavrio. Two marineros come to help
us to dock, and with this wind it is not so easy. Finally, we are along a pontoon,
very glad to be arrived. Rough Day for the Queen.
