02.06.2017 La Rochelle

Il fait un vrai temps d’été, chaud et ensoleillé. Nous allons, à pied, à la capitainerie, c’est de l’autre côté du port, il faut en faire tout le tour. La chef de port nous propose « l’opération passeport ». On demande ce que cela veut dire. C’est qu’un bateau qui libère sa place dans son port d’attache a droit à deux nuits gratuites dans un autre port. C’est fait pour faciliter le mouvement des bateaux. Mais nous ne pouvons pas y participer, nous n’avons pas de port d’attache en France. Mais nous avons droit,ici aussi, à la troisième nuit gratuite. Nous nous promenons en ville, vieille ville charmante. Je cherche (et trouve) des Tintins en français qui resteront dans le bateau pour Theo (et Kian quand il sera plus grand). Il faut transmettre la culture française à la prochaine génération. Il fait chaud, il y a pas mal de monde et nous sommes heureux de trouver un parc ombragé et tranquille. Jens achète une baguette et est, encore, déçu. Il dit qu’on pourrait acheter la même à Kleppestø. Il en achète une autre qui, cette fois, passe le test, elle est bonne. Nous rentrons manger le lunch au bateau et il faut mettre le bimini pour faire de l’ombre. Dans l’après-midi nous partons en vélo vers l’immense marina des Minimes ( 6 000 places !) et voyons la plage des Minimes qui a l’air bien. Mais nous continuons pour aller plus loin où nous apercevons une autre plage. Le bord de mer est bien entretenu, fleuri et une piste cyclable le longe tout le long. Mais, déception, la plage plus éloignée est pleine de cailloux, nous revenons donc à la plage des Minimes. Il fait vraiment chaud, court bain de soleil et, dans l’eau, surprise, la mer est à 23 ⁰, c’est très agréable. Retour à Maja, blog et diner dehors, toujours en short (Jens) et pantacourt (moi) jusqu’à 23 h.

It is a real summer time, warm and sunny. We walk to the capitainerie, it’s on the other side of the port, we had to go all the way round. The harbor master offers us "the passport operation". We ask what that means. A boat that releases its place in its home port is entitled to two free nights in another port. This is done to facilitate the movement of boats. But we can’t participate, we don’t have a home port in France. But we are entitled, here too, to the third night free. We walk around town, charming old town. I’m looking for Tintin books in French which will stay on the boat for Theo (and Kian when he ‘ll be older) and I find several ones. It’s important to give them a taste of French culture. It is hot, there are quite a lot of people and we are happy to find a shady and quiet park. Jens buys a baguette and is, again, disappointed. He says we could buy the same one in Kleppestø. He buys another one who, this time, passes the test, it’s good. We go back to eat lunch on the boat and have to put the bimini to make shade. In the afternoon we ride to the immense marina of the Minimes (6,000 places!) and see the Minimes beach which looks good. But we continue to go further where we see another beach. The seaside is well maintained, flowered and a bike path runs along it. But, disappointment, the more distant beach is full of pebbles, so we return to the Minimes beach. It is really hot, short sunbathing and, in the water, surprise, the sea is at 23 ⁰, it is very nice. Back to Maja, blog and dinner outside, in shorts (Jens) and pantacourt (me) until 11 pm.
