Il pleut, il fait
gris et personne sur la marina. Nous restons à l’intérieur, journal, blog et déjeuner.
Dans l’après-midi, le temps s’améliore et nous allons faire une promenade à
pied. Nous descendons sur une ”plage” et je trouve pleins de bouts de verre
polis par la mer, il y en a tellement que je choisis les plus petits seulement.
Un monsieur qui vit sur son bateau vient nous montrer sur la carte un
joli petit port plus au sud. Il raconte aussi que parfois, à Scilly, tous les
mouillages sont pris et qu’il n’y a plus de place. Donc nous décidons d’aller à
Padstow, ce petit port, à peu près 145 km au sud. Le problème c’est que c’est
un port avec une porte qui s’ouvre 2 heures avant la marée haute et reste ouverte
4 heures. Et ici, à Milford Haven il faut sortir quand l’écluse est ouverte. Il
faut donc coordonner tout cela. Le monsieur dit que c’est faisable avec une
vitesse de cinq nœuds, ce que nous pouvons faire, en principe. Il compte 15-16
heures de navigation. Si nous partons à
8 h 30 demain matin (quand l’écluse
ouvre ici), il faut arriver entre 8 h et minuit demain soir (quand la porte du
port à Padstow est ouverte).
Nous allons diner à Pembroke Yacht Club, à trois km d’ici, en vélo, en
prenant un racourci vraiment étroit et raide. Des optimistes et autres petits
dériveurs s’entrainent dans la baie.

It's raining, it's gray and no one is to be seen in the marina. We stay
inside, journal, blog and lunch. In the afternoon, the weather improves and we
go for a walk. We walk on a "beach" and I find many pieces of
broken glass polished by the sea, there are so many that I take only the
smaller only.
A man who lives on his boat shows us, on the map, a nice little harbor
to the south. He also said that at times, Scilly harbor is full and that there
is no more space. So we decide to go to Padstow, this small harbor, about 145
km south. The problem is that it is a harbor with a gate which opens 2 hours
before high tide and stays open for four hours. And here at Milford Haven we have
to leave when the lock is open. We must therefore coordinate all this. The
gentleman says that this is feasible with an average speed of five knots, a
speed we can do, in principle. It is 15-16 hours of navigation. If we start at
8:30 am tomorrow morning (when the lock opens here) we must arrive between 8 pm
and midnight tomorrow night (when the gate is open at Padstow harbor).
We dine at Pembroke Yacht Club, three miles from here, cycling, taking
a really narrow and steep shortcut. Optimistic and other small dinghies are
training in the bay.
