Nous parlons un peu avec
Åge, le Norvégien puis partons en voirure, nous l’avons encore un jour, vers l’est
voir la côte. C’est vert et cela se comprend, il pleut beaucoup. Nous allons
voir les petits ports où nous allons passer quand nous partirons. Le premier,
Tapia, a une entrée étroite, pratiquable seulement par temps calme et dedans il
n’y a guère de place. Le second, Navia, est un peu en amont d’une rivière
barrée par un banc de sable où la houle roule. Nous voyons un dragueur qui …
drague. Et le troisième, Viavelez, est joli, très pittoresque mais l’entrée a l’air
très difficile. Même aujourd’hui, où le temps est calme, des vagues pas
sympathiques rentrent dans le port. Et dire que les pêcheurs, autrefois,
sortaient et rentraient de ces petits ports à la voile et à l’aviron. Il y a de la houle pratiquement tout le temps,
et des ports comme ceux-là sont impratiquables dès que la houle roule. A
Viavelez, une petite taverna sur le port est ouverte, il est midi et demie et
nous y rentrons. La dame nous dit que l’on peut manger mais pas avant 13 heures.
Nous prenons donc un verre en attendant, et celui-ci vient accompagné de « pinchos »,
sortes de mini-tapas. Nous avons droit, au choix, à un petit bout de pain avec
un petit morceau d’omelette (la tortilla española) ou un petit morceau de pain
avec du chorizo. Jens demande ce qui mijote dans une grande marmite dans la
cuisine. C’est un ragout de haricots blancs avec du poulpe. Nous prenons un
deuxième verre qui vient avec un petite coupe de ce ragout. C’est si bon, qu’on
en redemande. Nous partageons « una ración » et avons du mal à finir
tellement on en a, et c’est une demie-portion. Nous rentrons, sous la pluie, en
passant par un quatrième port, Figueras, en face de Ribadeo, de l’autre côté du
pont. C’est tout petit, peu d’eau à marée basse, mais un chantier naval
important est en activité. Un grand navire danois y est en construction.

We talk a little with
Åge, the Norwegian and then we drive to the east to see the coast, we have the
car one more day. It's green and this is understandable, it rains a lot. We
will see the small ports where we will pass when we leave. The first, Tapia,
has a narrow entrance, practicable only in calm weather and there is hardly any
room. The second, Navia, is a little upstream a river barred by a sand bank
where the swell rolls. We see a dredger that
is draging. And the third one, Viavelez, is pretty and picturesque but
the entrance looks very difficult. Even today, where the weather is calm,
unpleasant waves enter the harbor. And to think that the fishermen, in the old
days, came out and came back in these small ports, sailing and rowing. There is
swell almost all the time, and ports like these are impracticable as soon as
the swell rolls. At Viavelez, a little taverna on the harbor is open, it is
half-past twelve and we go there. The lady tells us we can eat but not before
1pm. We take a drink while waiting, and it comes accompanied by
"pinchos", kinds of mini-tapas. We have a choice of a piece of
bread with a small piece of omelette (tortilla española) or a small piece of
bread with chorizo. Jens asks what is simmering in a large pot in the kitchen.
It is a stew of white beans with octopus. We take a second glass that comes
with a small cup of this stew. It's so good, we want more. We share "una
ración" and have difficulty to finish it so much we have, and it is only a
half-portion. We return, in the rain, passing through a fourth port, Figueras,
opposite Ribadeo, on the other side of the bridge. It is very small, little
water at low tide, but an important shipyard is active and a large Danish
vessel is under construction there.
